| GOAL | ||
| The aim of the project is to upgrade the land and livelihood of people of Talikatte and Devarahosalli which are the neglected areas of Holalkere Taluk. 1400 families are benefitting from this project. | ||
| 36 CBOs are already formed and loans are given for the livelihood support. Soil and water conservation works, trainings and workshops are already in the process. | ||

Talikatte and Devara Hosalli of Holalkere taluk are situated at the foot of the sloppy area and the lands of the people of the village are located on the slope which is affected by the erosion of fertile top soil during rainy season and low water table as there are no structures to allow the rain water to percolate into the ground since the rain water flows to a common point. This situation also has resulted in the depletion of the forest resources and people lack awareness concerning the protection of ecology and environment. |

The project is sponsored by Manos Unidas, Spain. Manos Unidas is an Association of the Catholic Church in Spain for support, promotion and development of the Third World. It is also an NGO which has catholic and secular volunteers. Their mission is to fight against hunger, malnutrition, poverty, disease, underdevelopment and lack of education, and work to eradicate the structural causes that produce them: injustice, unequal distribution of wealth and opportunities between people and peoples, ignorance, prejudice, lack of solidarity, the indifference and the crisis of human and Christian values. |

| Talikatte village is the border of Hosadurga and Holalkere taluks. It had been neglected and deprived of many of the government benefits. Manos Unidas voluntarily took up the initiative of funding an integrated watershed project for this area, which caters to the needs of the people and livestock along with soil and water conservation, promotion of horticulture and forestry and development of agricultural sector | ||

We have done mobilisation of 295 women through the formation of 22 SHGs and 84 youth/men through the formation of 14 JLGs.
|
||
10034 meters of trenches/bund are dug in the watershed.
|
||
We have conducted 2 Income Generating Activities workshops for the members of the Self Help Groups and identified 35 beneficiaries and given loan for tailoring, and the rearing of buffaloes and cows.
